AHHHHHHH I get that you "actually" ride your faggot bike, but what does that have to do with the usefulness of a Jansport? I used mine to carry groceries and a frame this week. Besides your GF(girl friends) GIANT dildo...

Although I fell in love with the brown Freight bag at CB today, my 4 year old EMS pack still serves me well. It carries books, beer, bottles, bike parts...pretty much everything since i don't have a car. There's always money in The Banana Stand

seriously though, that freight bag is amazing. It appears to be invincible. and the lovely woman I was talking to told me that they are made by one guy and they are one of the only merchants who carry it on the east coast (all hearsay). She also said that he is very easy to work with and will essentially fix any problems you come across with the bag.
I just don't think I can justify $200 for a bag right now, invincible or not. There's always money in The Banana Stand

basso, i hope you don't buy that brown one... it may actually be reserved for me.

nicole and tammy, i know the features quite well on both and i definitely like the reloads design better, but i have heard that they don't hold up as wel.l i somehow find myself carrying more then 40lbs a little too often, though the reload backpacks some friends of mine had were some of the first ever made. my bailey's has lasted 4 years so far with out any problems at all and if i spend $200+ i want at least the same amount of longevity.

i've always been under the impression that a courier bags main draw over a regular bag is the fact that they are very waterproof. some hiking bags have rain covers, but that's not really the same thing. i'd say that is a very important feature..

That reminds me of the part in Bill Bryson's "A Walk In the Woods" when he's buying gear for the trip. He explodes when he finds out that the super expensive hiking backpack requires an additional rain cover, as if the designer neglected to consider the possibility that one might bring it outside.e-f-f-e-c-t a smooth operater operating correctly

i got forced to listen to the audiobook of that on a car trip. it was great--he read it himself, so there's this "englishman lost in the woods thing" because he picked up a British accent while he lived there.Geryon was a monster everything about him was red.

But even better is my old jansport that i still have. Water resistant ,good amount of room, and I've had it since 99'. Although I was thinking about picking up a bigger bag for traveling the japanese country side someday...bake em' away, toys

There's some nice waterproof backpacks (made for kayakers) here:

    http://www.thewaterproofstore.com/backpacks.html

I'm considering picking one up, since they're about as big and $50 cheaper than a lot of cycling backpacks.

But then won't I just be going from "fakenger" to "fakayaker"?Think you're escaping and run into yourself. Longest way round is the shortest way home.

I swear some of you^ are retarded. A fucking queer little Jansport will hold 99% of what you need. What it doesn't fit inside is easily secured to it from a number of straps.... Not "waterproof" enough? Try putting yer shit in a garbage bag then the jansport, works like a fucking wet dream. You shit-nuts would rather spend 200 dollars on a giant retarded looking bag that won't be "waterproof" after one fucking season anyway. Oh yeah, you "look" like a messenger with a huge retarded bag on, that's the draw I suppose? My motherfucking courierware bag is 15 years old and wasn't waterproof after a season or two. Guess what, I put my shit in a little grocery bag and then the courierware bag, and WALA it's fucking "waterproof"! Line your bag with 5 cents worth of a plastic bag and your there. I don't think one of the bag makers mentioned here^ where even making bags when I started using my courierware bag( I realize there a one strap design but I mention them because of the whole "waterproof" issue that you deem important, but is not). Use a real backpack made from any number of hiking companies b4 you throw your money away on something as stupid looking as that asshole wearing the obligatory rookie asshole head ware "brooklyn" cycling cap and that ugly fucking bag. JESUS H FUCKING CHRIST you people are dumb n getting dumber

hm, well now, i've had a baileys for 2ish years and it is still very waterproof. chromes stay waterproof for a pretty long time, too. when carrying things like laptops, phones, etc., i would say that is pretty important. having a bigger bag is certainly useful for grocery trips, and things like that. it was also nice on race weekends to be able to ride with all your gear to wherever transport was.

use whatever bag suits you best, i suppose.
  10.
I always put my laptop in a UPS pad pak when I'm carrying it around in my bag. It's padded AND waterproof! But now my laptop is dead. So I don't carry it anywhere anymore.

Really, though, no bag is 100% if you use it for hours in a straight downpour. Maybe Ortlieb. But I double-bag anything electronic if I'm transporting it through heavy rain.Word nerd
  11.
My old Courierware bag was(is) falling apart from the seams, but I bought it way the fuck back in the mid nineties when they still had a shop on mass ave.

I've broken two snaps in a year on my Reload (the little support snap, and one of the compression snaps on the base). I'm becoming less impressed with it as time goes on. I guess it looks pretty and holds a shitload of beer though. But the fact of the matter is: Bones heal. Chicks dig scars.
