Today's "accomplishment" in the "breakin' it" category was the creation of the Threaded Square Taper Crank.

I was pulling the crank to swap out the chainring. Did not notice the tip had fallen off the crank puller tool. When the crank stopped turning but the crank didn't come off, I proceeded to apply the Inertial Impact Alignment Tool to the handle of the tool. It did come off eventually, but not until the crank puller had tapped a few threads into the crank. Whoops.

    Nice!

But why do you need to pull the crank to replace the chainring?DFL and DTF :D:D:D:D

I guess I didn't really need to. Thought it might be easier but it certainly didn't work out that way.

On the breaking it tip- Either i'm getting stronger, or they don't make sidi's like they used to, as last night i felt something funny, and looked down to see the sole still attached to the pedal, with my foot and the rest of the shoe pointing off at a jaunty angle.

Now the real question: shoe goo, or epoxy for the repair?Troglodytarum is latin for troll

Write to Sidi. They will probably send you a new pair. They love stories like that.

For an attempted repair, most epoxies will not attach leather/pleather/rubber to plastic very well. You want a fabric adhesive like whatever they used to adhere the upper to the sole in the first place. You can buy this kind of stuff at a sewing store like Jo Ann Fabrics.

Paging Killersim, she will probably know exactly what to use, or how to get a hold of the real industrial stuff.

I still think getting Sidi to send you a new pair is the answer, though.::lols at Dan's great photoshopping job:: ::slowly stops laughing:: ::googles:: ::kills self:: -tinyhonkshus

I accepted a job offer this Wednesday for a data analytics/pharma startup with which I negotiated a deal that will allow me to work remotely year-round, so I'll be quitting BU (after working here for 11.5 years) in a couple of weeks. This will allow me to not only focus year-round on my singing career (which has been ramping up lately and taking me further from Boston more frequently) without scrounging for time and cash, but even more importantly, it will also allow me to move back in with Finnegan and Mrs. Pocky, who is going to be floating around the country for the next few years as she goes from her clinical fellowship to possibly a few different speech pathology practices before anything settles down.

I'm planning on keeping my condo here and getting a roommate who'll be thrilled that I'm rarely around, so I can come back whenever I want or need to work in the Cambridge office and ride bikes with y'all.

We celebrated at Social Wednesday Bike Rides, and I drank many, many, many White Russians.::lols at Dan's great photoshopping job:: ::slowly stops laughing:: ::googles:: ::kills self:: -tinyhonkshus
