6kidz:In powerlifting you are generally competing in three lifts; squat, bench press, and deadlift. Your total score for a meet is the combination of all three lifts, so you can be better at some than others. The 1000lb total is sort of a benchmark for the sport like riding your first century is for road biking.

Youtube has lots of videos illustrating the lifts much better than I could describe here. If you're interested in more information I recommend clips with Mark Rippetoe. He's actually doing an AMA on r/fitness,and is the creator of Starting Strength, which is a great training program for beginners.

You should come to Cambridge Strength and Conditioning and try it out! Text me and I'll go with you some time. Same offer stands for anyone else reading this, pretty sure you can drop in once for free. The gym is owned and operated by BFG's very own Obo and a bunch of other really nice people that will help you get started with your training.

Secondary thing to add onto anyone else interested.

Another member of ours, Blitz (Zack) does powerlifting, and is actually at a strongman comp this weekend. I'm sure he'd be happy to answer any extra questions if anyone has them.

whoa, do you all know someone named Nicole? We're fb friends (I think I met her at fnb or something) and she started lifting a few months ago, really likes it, and is interested in competitions. Anyway, I remember a while back she was also getting into cycling, but then her bike broke and I haven't seen any other updates about bikes."life is hard, cats are soft." - surprisefries

Last night. I got. FUCKIN'. KNIGHTED. OFFICIALLY.

I've been trying to get Knighted for over 10 years now. Will post full story later, it's rather amusing.

So, if anyone has any distressed damsels, or dragon problems...I'm your guy.

  7.
a little..but i think it'd because i feel like he's posted about it beforesomebody turn the lights off on this place already.
  8.
Yeah, there are kinda two parts to this, so deja vu is real. In Feb I was Knighted in form (e.g. down knee, tapped with scepter, etc). That is what I posted about before. That was in front of a very small crowd, of people who were mostly not involved with that whole Court System thing. Last night, it was *officially* announced before the ENTIRE court that I had been Knighted, and I was given the official Parchment of Knighthood (pictured above), which seals the deal. Now I have a document to back it up (I wasn't given that back in Feb). The rad part is that don't often Knight people "for life," or give them the document already framed. I got both. :)All you white kids look alike when you're still covered in baby fat, so I was getting bored with the non-stop WASP parade.
  9.
ooohhhhh, okay, that makes sense - I said deja vu to be polite, I was definitely like wtf didn't this already happen. BUT NO IT DIDN'T QUITE!

That is excellent. Also I am interested in becoming a Papillon Empress, but the dog kind.i mean that looks like a 10 cat bag, easy

I hand forged a small utility/paring knife for my girlfriend.

It's 604 layers of pattern welded ("damascus") steel.

About 5" overall; blade is approx 2.75in

It's my first time doing any metal working and it's been awesome. I'm also making a fancier chef's knife for myself (which is what I'm actually working on in the first photo), but I haven't finished the scales yet.I have DTF pants. They're crotchless. -surprisefries

So far I ate a few bites of a sandwich that turned out to have tuna in it and a stromboli. Other than that I've been eating in. But I have high hopes. the produce is wicked cheap and the olives are dope. Also Mahou Cinco Estrellas might be the most well balanced cheap beer I've ever encountered (less relevant to a_lion, but it made me happy to discover). You said time was infinite, so why the watch wrapped around your wrist?

Nice! I got to feel some kicks the other day, and more yesterday morning. That was cool, but way more subtle than I expected. Corinne disagreed: "it's not so subtle when it feels like you're getting kicked in the guts". I guess she has a point.clockwork ted: this is my favorite thread. sweet BJ alexi!
