sorry to be a pain and start a new thread over this, but i feel it's worth it.

next tuesday and wednesday (august 5th & 6th) are the new england track championships at the new england velodrome in londonderry, NH. tuesday is for A,B riders and wednesday is C,D and women.

gates open at 4, racing starts at six.

events are a match sprint, kilo, and a points race. it's an omnium set-up - you score points in each race that you place in, and whoever has the most points at the end of the night wins for the category. top four finishers get points - 1st gets 5, 2nd 3, 3rd 2 and 4th 1.

    YOU SHOULD COME.

it's really awesome that tony, laurie, dick ring and whoever else involved are pulling together a new england championship. you can go race other regional champs. and feel fancy. we should support this. we're part of small niche of people that already own track bikes and we should be reppin' harder. rides can be worked out, and usually depart around 3/3.30. post up if you want to go and which night you would be going.

just think. YOU could be a new england champion by this time next week!

I wanna go on Tuesday to shoot some vids. Please let me know asap if this is possible at (518) 929-7937.
  1.
    lauren speaks the truth!

this is a great chance for anyone and everyone to show up.
don't let the word 'championship' discourage or intimidate you. there will be champions crowned in ALL 4 fields, ABCD so if you're a beginner and this is your first time on the track, but you're a good cyclist in general you might be the D champion

there are numerous events suited to different strengths people might have; sprinter, endurance, etc.

also, http://nevelodrome.wordpress.com/ is a more updated site than the leadcycling one.

I have next wednesday off so I am totally down for it.But the fact of the matter is: Bones heal. Chicks dig scars. And the United States of America has the best doctor-to-daredevil ratio in the world!

I'm going up to londonderry on tuesday for a post op check up for a cyst on my tailbone, and I would be more than glad to give anyone a ride. Just let me know. Word.

I wanna go and rent a bike and race. I've never raced on a real track so aside from a ride up there I'd need someone to explain these oddly named races to me.oppinions like kittens

is D just for first timers? does that mean it's wicked dangerous and historically several people die every D race?

want to try but i'm nervyy, how well does riding that small banked curve next to brigham circle everyday translate?enjoy two cosmetics
  10.
^Probably about the same. The bank is essentially nonexistent. Just go up! You don't have to race if you decide to wimp out.Word nerd

d is for newer riders, yes. the NEV is slack, though, and if you have race experience you can put yourself in a higher cat, you don't have to qualify and move your way up like in road racing.

d riders don't die, but the pack can be twitchy. i tend to not get too close to someone's wheel unless i know what kind of rider they are.

ignore the banking. the banking will have no bearing on your life. the sprint lane is pretty much flat - it's barely banked to the pole line. i tried to use the banking once for a match sprint to get up to speed easier and it was barely worth it.

you shouldn't worry about it. it's a lot of fun, it's a chill environment, very friendly to newcomers and you're never really racing for more than fifteen minutes or so, so there's plenty of time to wander around, chat, and talk to people about the different types of races, strategies, etc.

Well, it's rather lame of you to attempt to sabotage my ride, but as I was saying to you in the shop, for the sake of my own dignity I'd rather race with the B's.
So. . . Help me find a damned ride then, otherwise I'm borrowing a car to spite the both of you!

give me your email. i will pass it along. or are you on goloco?

go here and click on the green goloco link if you don't have an account already. sign up, seth has a ride posted for going to londonderry tomorrow. it uses paypal and works out gas and everything beforehand.

i was mostly trying to get your attention so that you could get up there on tuesday. i wouldn't sabotage you for serious! :)

  14.
I'd like to echo ratattack's comments about he track being a chill environment and second using goloco, like she suggested. I'm in Seth's car. By the time it fills up with 4 or 5 people (and it always does) the ride will be $10 or less.

We used goloco all of last summer and it always worked out well.

Anyone interested in going to the track on Sunday to try to win $50 for the mile record? I'm thinking I can probably step it up a little this year. I had the 3rd best time in the B men last year, and think I may win it this year. This should be a lot of fun!

This is correct. However, considering I am not a climber, I think I'll go with the track. Have you looked at the tokeneke profile? That shit looks like it will tear me a new one.

I don't think they have clipless shit for rent. The bikes are decent. Some are conversions, but most are real track bikes.

how does it compare with fitchburg/green mountain/kancamagus loop?

also, are any other CB guys doing tokeneke?
  19.
Jordan is doing it. According to the profile, it is a little harder than the fitchburg road course. Hardly anything is as hard as the GMSR course. The Kanc isn't really comparable for me, because I've never raced on it.

you'll get pedals with toe clips, but if you have your own clipless stuff bring it and they will put it on for you.

    fuck my life!

Stuff was great yesterday defintely a great environment. I brought my dad and he ate it up. He used to watch eddy in the tour when he lived in France so it was cool to teach him stuff about the bikes while the riders chatted us up.

I NEED to ride that track. Are Tuesdays and Thursdays still going on as long as it's warm ?(and dry)

Peter and Colin were beasts, I dunno if they are on here but serious kudos to those man-beasts.enjoy two cosmetics

^ are the classifications self-assigned?~(..,)~ (oYo) make whoopee not war (oYo) ~(..,)~
  29.
    mur:^ are the classifications self-assigned?

sort of. most of the people have been racing a while and know where they stand.
everyone 'starts' as a D if you've never ridden on a track (or with a pack) before, but there's no minimum number of races you need to do to upgrade. if you're really fast, get the jist of the track in a training session or one group race, you can go to Bs if you want.

if you're really doing well in a category, or are really doing poorly, someone may ask if you'd like to reconsider where you are, but there is no mandatory assigning.
  30.
I'd like to also add that Tony has never told me to change categories, but the guys I race with are pretty quick to call out the baggers. Hence my upgrade to A's for this coming Sunday.
  31.
@nick, seth, and whoever else was up at the track for A/B omnium part2:
what kind of times did you guys put up for the 3k pursuit?
