I have a friend who is doing a tour right now with Elisa Young, a rural Appalachian mother turned environmental justice activist. Elisa lives in southeastern Ohio, in an area where there are already four coal power plants and five more that are in the permitting process. Elisa is part of a group called Meigs Citizens Action Now! (http://www.meigscan.org/) and has been a tireless advocate for environmental and social justice. You can read more about the area Elisa lives in and their struggle at:

They want to come up to Boston, but they do need help with fundraising. If you can help with this, let me know! It'd be around August 26/27. I'm thinking of doing this a benefit dinner. Some things I'm trying to figure out and need help with:

    - Space! Our house is really small so it wouldn't work well for this, but if you have a big house and would be willing to host this, let me know!
    - Promotion! Let me know if you have contacts to groups that would be interested in going.

If you're interested in helping with the nuts and bolts of this, let me know! I'm thinking of having a meeting sometime this weekend with folks who are interested in helping to start hammering things out.
