My external hard drive crashed and I lost EVERYTHING! anyone know of some good sources to get loads of music back quick!?! i usually use soulseek and bittorrents but does anyone have any ftp connections for music? i figured someone has to be using and abusing their school's ftp servers. i'm a sys admin and have to recover data from drives on the regular. are you sure the disk is dead? just cause you can't read it doesn't mean it's gone forever. unless there was a serious mechanical failure, it's probably recoverable.safety jon knows better, danger jon does NOT.

I think you should take the disk in to a data recovery place, for the couple hundred bucks they might charge you it will be more than worth your time going through and replacing EVERYTHING.this wont hurt a bit...

dead for you might not be the same as dead for a data recovery specialist, unless you took a torch to the platters I am betting that for a minimum of cash they could recover your data for you...might want to look into it.this wont hurt a bit...

^^^ I used to work for EMC and did a lot of drive recovery type work. I'd be willing to do so. I also have all my music online. If you (or someone else) wants to take a look at it, whisper me.
