Sorry to hear about this. May her memory be a blessing to you, her friends, and family.

Just got word that a friend of mine and Corinne's passed away yesterday after a long battle with a number of medical issues. Still sucks though.clockwork ted: this is my favorite thread. sweet BJ alexi!

Sick people shouldn't come to work sick. That said, everyone should get earned sick time, and bosses should be good about reminding folks to take it.clockwork ted: this is my favorite thread. sweet BJ alexi!

    Bike wheel sizes, chapter 5,345.

Found another "junior" road bike, but the rims are 540x21. Most wheels I've seen or heard of are 520x21ish. Turns out they are both sometimes labeled as 24x1 1/8". Velocity and Alexrims only list 520mm sizes on their sites. Are these tires actually interchangeable? Most small bike manufacturers don't list the ISO, and just leave it as 24". These tires are NOT interchangeable. 540 is a wheelchair standard, technically. But, wheelchair tires are actually pretty easy to find in road like sizes and can often take ridiculously high pressures like 175psi.Naaaah, too uncool for the #messlyfe. Earlier this week, I was offered the lead in an opera with the biggest company I've ever worked for. However, I'm already contracted for another opera that conflicts with it in the middle of the bigger one's rehearsal period. The smaller opera (which booked me first) was willing to compomise to let me miss a couple of rehearsals, but the bigger one wasn't willing to compromise.

Oh well, them understanding that I'm actually getting lots of work and they should call me sooner next time is never a bad thing. But this still really sucks.::lols at Dan's great photoshopping job:: ::slowly stops laughing:: ::googles:: ::kills self:: -tinyhonkshus

Well, the big one would have been super local. It would have put me in Boston for a whole month. And then I could ride bikes with you guys.

I'm usually not performing *in* Boston, but I have a couple coming up that aren't too far away:

My next gig is in Amherst on April 19th at 3pm -- The Scarlet Professor, workshopping scenes from a new opera written by a professor at Amherst College. Read the link -- the true story of this one is fascinating. It's about another professor, at Smith College decades earlier, whose home was raided for male pornography and who, under duress, outed several other gay professors.

The one right after that is in Northampton on May 9th at 7:30pm -- Cavalleria Rusticana. This one is one of the greatest operas ever written. One act (just about an hour) of pure blood and guts realism. When people who don't know if they like opera want to see an opera, these one-act Italian verismo (literally, "realism") pieces are what I recommend. Nobody wants to sit through four hours of Mozart for their first opera. They want to watch an hour of intense emotion and see Pocky get shanked at the end.::lols at Dan's great photoshopping job:: ::slowly stops laughing:: ::googles:: ::kills self:: -tinyhonkshus

Almost doored on the way in to work today. Some schmuck was getting dropped off by his friend/uber/lover/whatever and he managed to cut me off and then almost door me as I weaved around.

Stopped to simply let him know that's really dangerous and he needs to check before opening his door, to which said sir douchenozzle of suckdick-a-ville responded, "Calm down".

Me: Calm down? You could kill someone doing that.
SDN: But I didn't. Whatever man.

At this point the normal niceties were exchanged.

I guess I just need to get start breaking windows and wishing them a nice day.clockwork ted: this is my favorite thread. sweet BJ alexi!

People are driving real awesome all over today. Or maybe there's some new brain numbing drug all the office bros are into now. I've seen so many people with both hands on phones, completely engrossed in them, while in moving traffic. I managed to get the attention of one of them who was all over the road cutting everyone off and said, "I can't believe you're driving like that while on your phone", and he just stared at me blankly and said nothing."life is hard, cats are soft." - surprisefries

I'm 32 and just figured out a super easy way to put grips on handlebars that literally takes seconds and only involves zip ties. Where was this method when I was 15.

Yeah I had 2 near close calls this morning, in a span of less than 10 seconds on Cambridge St. (which I am on for all of 1 block). Before that there was a big pickuptruckbro in Union Sq trying to use the bike lane to get around 2-3 cars worth of traffic, but there was still some snow/ice in the lane (coming into Union on Som' Ave) and he totally got his truck stuck.

I dismounted, walked by, made eye contact, and said "You fucking dumbass." It was rather gratifying.DFL and DTF :D:D:D:D
