ridin' was great this mornin'! warm (for december) and the snow and ice and shit is mostly gone. rain has washed away most of the salt and shit too. perfect. not much traffic either from somerville to newton.

    i like ridin' bikes.

Epic rain today. Multiple places riding from JP to Beacon Hill where the water was up to my bottom bracket for a few meters. This may be the first time that I've done my entire commute and not seen at least one other cyclist - ghostly out there. Anybody else working with a sodden a** and frozen feet right now?

I rode in. wool shants were working fine until my lower leg got soaked in a giant puddle - then it started to suck. now I gotta go wander my building to find newspaper to put in my shoes. I've been meaning to email HR about seeing if theres a dryer I can get access to, maybe today is the day.Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.

Race blades worked wonders for me, though I rode after the monsoon. Still, I was riding at speed, and my ass never got wet. Outfit was light shorts over tights, and my Raceface water-resistant hoodie.Word nerd

I have a rear fender, but can't have a front fender due to toe overlap on the Fuji. Hopefully the new frame thats sitting in my bedroom will remedy that problem and I'll be back to full fenders front and rear.Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.

Rob Gigantic:Race blades worked wonders for me, though I rode after the monsoon.

My front and rear full fenders were futile against the sheets of rain coming from the sky.

I still have never missed a day of riding in, but it comes back to there just being no favorable alternative. I wasn't all excited to ride in the rain today, but T or driving take so much more time and $, plus I would hate having to get on a train at the end of the day when it is nicer.

yeah, we know it's closed, but we poach hiking trails in there all the time anyways, so it's almost never legit. not to mention night rides, which are usually never allowed. most people i know ride there year-round. as long as you don't park right at the trailhead it's pretty hard for anyone to do anything. i've seen a ranger in there on an ATV maybe once.
