I need a room May 1st or 15th til whenever that is couples-friendly, cheap, and somewhere within 1-2 miles from either the West Medford or North Station commuter rail stops. West Medford is near Davis in Somerville, but I would also consider Porter, Harvard, and Central areas. You guys know where North Station is, so anywhere 1-2 miles from that, maybe 3 if it's good room.

I also need on street permit parking (or a cheap monthly spot) for when I get sick and tired of the train schedule, the train being 5 miles from where I work (that's going to be fun to figure out), and taking the train for 60 minutes each way, when in a car it would only be 30-25....

I am sorry : ( no allston or brighton.

^ Hmmm. But don't you fart a lot?

I'm interested in buying a condo in Essex county. Maybe in -- I mean, I would prefer -- Swampscott or Marblehead. Something quaint with hardwood floors throughout, two bedrooms, a working fireplace, off-street parking, a short bicycle ride to the Starbucks and Wholefoods of Vinnin Square would be convenient.Jockin' Mike D. to my dismay!

my room's open june 1st! $440/mo, utilities around $50-100 or whatever. the landlord is awesome, the roommates are not, but if you can stick to yourself and aren't codependent it's a fine place to live. yeah i know i'm not selling it but i wouldn't want to trick anyone into living with a crazy lady (she has a nice heart but is crazy). cheap, no deposit, easy! whisper me or something

I have two spaces opening up in my apartment at 31 concord ave
View Larger Map just outside of harvard square for June.

It's a basement apartment with 3 bedrooms, sizes large, medium, and small. Very couple friendly, as the largest room is also separated from the rest of the apartment. Rent is $700/650/550 for L/M/S rooms, or $625X2 for a couple, includes Heat/HW. Other utilities (electric, phone/dsl) run ~$25 each.

Apartment has wood floors in the rooms, big windows, and a good landlord. Comes with many amenities including a big bike/general storage room with workstand, sewing machine, lots of books, and 1 harvard grad student who spends most of their time at work (yours truly). No parking included, but it's easy to find on-street parking with a cambridge permit.

If you're interested, pm me or email: hmoffett at gmail.com

So I might be looking for a place come fall (aug/sept ish). If anyone would be interested in rooming together let me know (guys or girls). FWIW I have a bunch of furniture and am looking to room with nonsmokers/nonparty animals. My guess is that this is going to mean I'm looking more at you folks with real jobs or who are also grad students. Nothing against ya'll undergrads, but I got most of the partying out of me a few years back and savor the peace and quiet of home for relaxing and studying -such is the life of a perpetual grad student I guess. I don't have a car, am pretty clean/considerate, and tend to think I'm a pretty decent person to live with. Shoot a whisper my way if you're interested.

Ideally I'd like to live in Allston/Brookline/Cambridge, and maybe Somervile over by Porter or Davis. Basically anywhere near mass transit (despite the fact that I bike almost all the time - I just think it's convenient when I have family and guests in town).

Otherwise, I'd be interested in rooming with folks who already have a place for fall so long as it's clean, and we can find somewhere for my furniture to go.clockwork ted: this is my favorite thread. sweet BJ alexi!

This might be way for in advance for people, but I'm hoping to find a room for Sept, just through the spring when hopefully I'll have a job lined up in the NW. Right now I manage Quad Bikes, that little nonprofit in cambridge, and I'm finishing my bfa at the museum school. I'm a clean, quiet guy, spend most of my time at home just relaxing after working at the shop all day. I don't have pets, don't smoke, don't have any furniture to move in, though I love pets, don't mind smokers at all, and enjoy furniture. I don't have a car right now but I'll be looking for one to get me across the country. I love working on bikes and keep most of my work at the shop, so I don't bring a lot of mess into the apt. I'm really hoping not to sign a year lease or to find somewhere that would be cool with me finding another roommate when I leave without hitting me with fines. Anyone got a spot opening in the Fall?

i had good luck with www.bostonapartments.com as poorly designed as it is. craigslist has WAY too many bait and switch apts and shady characters. this place seemed to have more legit realtors.

oh and also I would recommend Tanner Fogerty (sp?) from Charlesgate Realty. I am not sure what areas Charlesgate does. I used him to find an apartment in Beacon Hill.

I've always had the most luck by doing to a realtor and saying "show me what you've got."
By the time I visit 4-5 realtors, I know exactly what I'm looking for, and I've got a pretty good idea of whats out there for whatever price. Craigslist doesn't seem to work for new apartments in the city - its all designed to get you into the realtors office.
Craigslist *did* come in handy when I was trying to find a realtor for a specific area, though.ascott430 - "Was going to build it up into a fixed gear until I realized I'd rather spend money and time on mountain bikes."

I use Craigslist for non-realtor places. It's how I found my current loft in Southie. So there are gems. The key is to be very selective, and to never answer a realtor ad. There is no reason whatsoever to use a rental realtor, unless you're looking for something in the luxury 1-bed for $2400 range. Most rental realtors dealing with properties you can afford are shady assholes. Just rent from the owners directly and cut out the shady-middle-man economy altogether.Word nerd

    Have:

A nice big room on Gardner street in Allston. I need someone to rent this out ASAP until the lease ends in September. Hardwood floors. 4 other nice quiet MassArt students for roommates. free laundry in the basement and semi-secluded parking out back. There's a lot of nooks and crannies to store stuff in outside of the room, some better than others. We have a pretty big living room and nice kitchen. If you're interested I could probably move you in a little bit early.http://www.fanfiction.net/s/800170/1/EVANGELION_NEXUS

Offered here before Mr. Craig's list gets a hold of the info.

For Free: A three seater couch and an arm chair. Purchased by my parents in 1969 from Ethan Allen Furniture. Springs resprung and reupholstered sometime in the 80's. Redish Orange in Color. Not broken. Doesn't smell like hippies, ferrets, or anything nasty. Clean and other than being 40 years old, in great condition.

Seriously. Free. Just get it from mi casa to your casa however you see fit. Time frame: We ordered a new couch last week. It should be 8 weeks till we have it. If anyone wants them, let me know via pm. We don't mind living without a couch for a few weeks either, so you can pick it up whenever.
