Shit, I didn't even think about the honey or pb not being raw...as you can see, I'm still getting the hang of this.

I need to try out the grasshopper and on a related note, has anybody ever been to Grezzo Restaurant (www.grezzorestaurant.com), it's supposed to be raw/vegan fine dining. I might have to try it out.

Also on a related note, I had steak tartare (i.e. raw meat) and a salad of greens at Aaddis Red Sea. It was...interesting (to say the least). But, at least it fit into my raw diet. Next will be some sashimi.unstuck in time

Today, I ate some pan fried chicken in a pan-roux white sauce. It was a little oversalted - I'm never buying salted butter again. Minus the mild over-saltiness, the chicken was moist and the white sauce was pretty bangin. I probably should've cooked a vegetable to go with - I think spinach would've been perfect - but I had a beer instead. Hops are green, right?ascott430 - "Was going to build it up into a fixed gear until I realized I'd rather spend money and time on mountain bikes."

^^grasshopper is vegan, not raw. deep fried gluten coated in sweet and sour sauce is in no way raw.

not to sound snarky but you have done SOME research on raw diets/recipes, right? since you came to the revelation that "raw" wasn't in reference to the level of preparation.

TOS used to have raw stuff, don't know if they still do. veggie chips with dip, pesto "pasta", chocolate "mousse". just don't plan on partaking of the beer while you're going raw!

Grezzo's is okay. The dessert I had was, hands down, one of the most disgusting things I've ever eaten. It was a brownie with blueberry gelato. The gelato was okay, but the brownie tasted like an odwalla chocolate protein bar. Grossasfuck. The first course was okay. It was a watermelon soup, infused with cardamom, served with fresh fruits and herbs. It was tasty, but it was infused with lavender, not cardamom, which was a disappointment. The second course was a "ravioli." It was tasty, but my belly stank of raw garlic for the rest of the day. And it's not just because it's a raw restaurant - there are easy ways of getting around that raw garlic taste - it was just over-looked, and sucked because of it. The entrees were both smaller than the appetizers, and the gnocchi tasted like absolutely nothing.

All in all, it was okay, but every dish had some sort of inexcusable mistake. So be prepared to be disappointed.I prefer 49x16

it should also be noted that all of their saucing is ugly as fuck, splattered, or squeezy bottle-squigglies... totally overplayed and messy.I prefer 49x16

tell me more!i mean that looks like a 10 cat bag, easy
  6.
You can dehydrate it and turn it into a powder if you're just looking for that garlic nuance. If you're really looking for a fresh garlic taste, you can slice it paper thin, soak it in fresh, cold water until it doesn't taste like indigestion. But I think they should have stayed away from garlic all together and just used chopped garlic chives - they're much milder and look pretty. They also could have used elephant garlic, which isn't hard to find, which is also much milder, but still would need some treatment before being used.I prefer 49x16

dubcycle:If you saute garlic first, it gets much sweeter and tastier!

It also then becomes cooked. Which is the opposite of raw...

    On a not raw note,

    1 clove garlic, crushed
    two large splashes balsamic vinegar
two tablespoons or so of brown sugar
    tsp coriander seed
    1/2 tsp fennel seed
    3" piece of fennel frond

Put all ingredients in sauce pan, season with salt and pepper, reduce to caramel. Taste to make sure it's balanced sweet/sour.

Deglaze with a can of crushed tomatoes.

Add a chunk of a sharp cheese rind

Simmer 30 minutes, tasting and reseasoning constantly.

Remove fennel and cheese rind. Puree 1/2 of the sauce until smooth. Emulsify 1/4c olive oil. Reseason. Mix back in with the rest of the sauce.

    It's fucking delicious.I prefer 49x16

Yeah, ok. I don't think raw is a sustainable way to survive.

Don't know how I'm gonna last the month, but at least I'm actually doing right now.

    Today.
    -Two Larabars
-A huge-ass salad. Lemon Juice as 'dressing'
    -Raisins
-Lots and lots of fruit and vegetables
    -Sunflower seeds
    -Water
    -Raw Oats
    -Wheat grass shot

^dood i feel like checking out some raw (cook) books would help you out a lot. i'm sure they have them at libraries or just go hang out and browse in a book store for a while. you can 'sprout' legumes and stuff and do rad things with raw nuts. i really think you should look into it, i think you'd be less miserable
i have this and it fucking rules. it's recipes and tons of info and the author is so rad
    http://www.amazon.com/Raw-Uncook-Book-Vegetarian-Food/dp/0060392622

    anyway
    i'm trying to be healthier
it's damn near impossible for me to not eat at least SOME chocolate every day so my food needs to be healthier

less bread, period (damn you, dumpstering!!)
fruit for breakfast or fruit in oatmeal if i'm super hungry that day (or rode a lot)
salad for lunch every day (yesterday i made a salad with red kidney and garbanzo beans i soaked in cider vinegar marinade for a couplea weeks. and a little quinoa)
pretty much whatevs for dinner (last night i sauteed zuchinni and mushrooms and a little tempeh in garlic and onion and ate it over some quinoa with lemon juice)

then i can eat a handful of chocolate covered cherries, right? maybe?

we'll see how this does or doesn't work out...

stupid food. why you gotta be so good?!?!?Must be awful, being so fluffy.

    @dora.

Excellent suggestions. However, I should mention that I do not have regular access to a kitchen so that makes things considerably more difficult for me. My scholarships will only pay for the cheapest form of on-campus housing and Ibeing the poor ass mofo that I am, cannot afford anything else without a full time job. So, I am stuck in dorm housing with nothing but a dining hall plan and crappy food galore to subsist on.

My options are considerably limited.unstuck in time
