    Fresh peasant bread/sandwich

fire chicken with a blue cheese dressing (the dressing came out much better than last time)

    bloody mary

Caesar Salad (my first ever caesar dressing. I'll never buy it again.)

    bloody mary

The caesar dressing was stupid easy, and stupid delicious. In order of descending portion in the dressing:
    Mayo
    Worstershire
    Buttermilk
    Parmesean cheese
    Garlic
    Pepper
    Salt

tinyhonkshus:Bacon salad with spinach and Ina Garten's "balsamic onions". TJ's balsamic vinaigrette on top.

red onion + balsamic vinegar + olive oil + salt + pepper + 375 for 15 min = best ever. EVER. I live for red onion.

omg i love ina garten! haha

back when we had cable i used to watch her show just about every day; the woman knows how to make amazing food (with lots of butter!) and makes me miss long island, mercedes driving yuppies and all. and that store is AWESOME. you can't go in there without spending $100.

i need to hulu her show or something. do they have it online?Must be awful, being so fluffy.

It's really more of a total misnomer for your traditional eggs and toast with beans and some sort of skillet cooked bread.

actual cowboy breakfast is usually some sort of casserole.

i made a pesto gnocchi and vodka sauce once for a potluck, it was so good but there ended up being no leftovers despite doubling the recipe. i need to get un-lazy and make gnocchi again.

the best part was being a fatty and using the leftover potato skins to make baked potato skins with tempeh bacon. mm.

it was from veganomicon, it's the penne vodka recipe but i just put it on gnocchi instead.

    2 tsp olive oil
    4 cloves minced garlic
    1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
    28oz can crushed tomatoes
    1/4c vodka
    1/4 tsp dried thyme
    1/4 tsp dried oregano
    1/2 tsp salt
a few dashes fresh black pepper
1/2c sliced or slivered almonds (for the creaminess)
    1/4c finely chopped fresh basil

preheat saucepan over medium/low heat. add oil, garlic, and crushed red pepper and saute for about a minute, until fragrant, being careful not to burn. add the crushed tomatoes, vodka, thyme, oregano, salt and black pepper. cover, and turn the heat up a bit to bring to a simmer for about 20 minutes, sitrring occasionally. once the sauce has simmered for ~20 minutes, add the almonds. use an immersion blender to blend the almonds into the sauce until creamy and only slightly grainy (i do not have an immersion blender, i just put it all through my mini food processor. messy, but it worked). add the basil to the sauce, mix.

Oh god, the food at Grezzo was heavenly. I'm not a salad man myself, and my initial response to the idea of a fully raw/vegan place was "WTF...fancy salad. So what?"

Then I ate the food...words cannot describe; seriously one of the better places I've eaten.

Sake and Chai Mudslide, Hemp Chocolate Milk, Gnocci, Tomato-ravioli, House "burger" and the brownie sunday with coconut/cashew ice cream for dessert. Fuuuuuck.

To top it all off, they were bicycle benefits members and apparently we were the first people to ever actually take advantage of it. They gave us 10% off the meal and complimentary almond-milk shots.

Ok, I'll stop now. I sound like a commercial.

(But seriously, try this place.)unstuck in time

    speaking of sweet potatoes...

tonight i made brown rice, panko-coated baked sweet potatoes and a tasty yellow curry.

lots and lots and lots of curry. too much, in fact. it just took me 40 minutes to find enough jars/bottle/make room in my fridge for all of it. so, does anyone want some free homemade curry? it has a bit of a kick for an aftertaste, but overall it's pretty mild. all clear for any interested vegan parties. whisper me if you want some.
