Google map of all the MBTA lines and stations.

    MBTA subway bike policy:

    * A maximum of two (2) bikes are allowed on each car on Blue, Red and Orange Line trains only.
    * Bikes (with the exception of folding bikes) are not allowed on the Green Line, the Mattapan Trolley, or the Silver Line.
    * On weekdays, bikes are allowed before 7 a.m., between 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., and after 7 p.m. and all day on weekends, excluding substitute bus shuttle service.
    * Cyclists must board and ride on either end of the car and shall not transport bicycles down the aisle between end doors.
    * Cyclists must wait until all exiting and entering passengers have cleared the doorways before moving bicycles. Once aboard the train, cyclists must hold the bicycle firmly at all times, kickstand up, and not allow the bicycle to lean against patrons.
    * A child with accompanying adult, both with bikes, should remain at the same end of the car.
    * If train is crowded so that a bike would present an obstacle to other passengers, the cyclist must wait and board a less crowded train.
    * If cyclist is unable to disembark train without interfering with other passengers, the cyclist must remain on the train until it becomes less crowded.
    * In a train emergency, stow your bike as far away from the aisle as possible.

Due to safety considerations and congestion, cyclists with bikes may not enter or exit the following stations:
    * Park Street (Red and Green Lines)
    * Downtown Crossing (Red and Orange Lines), except to transfer lines
    * Government Center (Blue and Green Lines)

I'd be way more interested if you got rid of the stupid taking your bike on the T part... it essentially forces you to take the T at some point.

Fuck that. Show some damned backbone. The cheez stands alone
  9.
^Yeah. . . I feel that way too, but it's always nice if the race is approachable for people who don't necessarily enjoy or have experience with spending hours in the saddle, but are competent riders otherwise. If I race this, I won't take the T, because I'm interested in how I'll measure up against those who do. (And I fucking hate the T.)

My operating assumption is that my bike and I are always faster than taking the T.
I guess this gives me the chance to test that theory.

..i don't think anyone participating and taking the T at any point would be doing so because they were scared,.. so.. the backbone thing is irrelivant.

i think it's an interesting idea. it adds more dimension to the norm of alleycat races as far as i'm concerned, makes you think outside the box in a way.
like- it's possible that people could end up having an advantage over you if you decide not to take the T, but what happens if it's a busy night on the Red Line?
    backed up trains?
    fires in the tunnel?
    medical emergancies?
i know personally that i have been on the train before and said to myself "fuck. i could have BEEN THERE BY NOW had i ridden my bike instead." so,.. i think it's interesting. i'll be very curious to see how this turns out.

croth, you're genius.Mattia: "I don''t usually watch porn with pickaxe, but when I do it, I make sure to be on the right website"

Depending on the start time of the event, and the sporting events happening on that particular date, taking the T may not be an option for the entire duration of the event. This must be planned for.

In addition, I've spoken to many riders I consider to be fast, and most feel they could beat the T back from braintree. Considering the risks of losing time on the subway, waiting for trains, delays at stops, potential backups, etc, taking the subway may be a losing proposition. That is your choice to make.

I have thought about this, ya'll, and the train option simply makes it a more interesting event. I doubt the winners will be spending much time on the subway.

Also, please note the date change to 05/23, the Sunday after Marty's Openhouse!

They aren't illegal either though. It's just people riding bikes. It's not like there's going to be a pack of 150 bicyclists terrorizing Boston, it'll just be groups of a few people. They're even less illegal than critical mass.
  15.
alleycats pretty much always get on Bostonbiker, so i wouldn't see that as a problem. dunno about universalhub though.

^yeah, cops can just get upset about alleycat-related behavior though (i.e. "unsafe" riding, blowing lights). like the whole Arlington dust-up during toothrot the other year.I promise it will even show you porn. - tristan
  16.
ack, with the 2 t-rides is 43miles of riding, 60miles of travel.

not a huge weekend for me, but seeing how i'm doing sunapee road race and winsted woods mtb race that saturday and sunday i'm not sure if i'll make it.
