Cedar Jones:I have a 500 mL beaker and a 50 mL shot glass haha
I prefer 500-mL Erlenmeyers, less likely to tip in a party environment. Seconded on the 50-mL shot glass though, except that they float when you try to do carbombs with them. You said time was infinite, so why the watch wrapped around your wrist?

I'm Zach, I'm a 4th year Mechanical Engineering Student at NU...

Currently I work as a Naval Architect in Hingham designing boats...I'm hoping they'll hire me after I graduate..

I drew up the structural stuff for this:
Boats!Don't worry brother, this will blow over.
  6.
^It's a rudder. . . but somehow special. Explain?[all your base are belong to us]
  7.
I didn't design the rudder, but yes it is special in that it has an aileron aaand

What you can't tell from the video is that this ferry was lengthened with a 40 foot section(oddly enough designed by someone else on this forum) and in order to decrease the turning radius of the now longer boat, a new rudder was necessary...the larger rudder area also allows it to handle better when docking on a really windy day

My work involved designing the support structure and steering gear structure inside of the hull...I had to relocate the shafts that the rudders rotate on and make sure they wouldn't bind and/or break..Don't worry brother, this will blow over.
  8.
^Ah. . . cool. You NU engineering students often work on interesting projects.[all your base are belong to us]
  9.
Yeah usually we luck out...but my first internship was with the MBTA...and that wasn't interesting at all, the most we did was print up or scan drawings, I guess as a freshman I shouldn't have expected much technical workDon't worry brother, this will blow over.

fun story: I went for a bike ride today with this girl who goes to emerson, and she is getting a minor in science. Just science. Like, all of it. I was like "seriously? It's that unspecific?" Apparently this is what happens when you go to an arts college.

So, I know Sagan gets enough play. However, the man really does the best job explaining fourth spatial dimension and the tesseract that I've ever seen/heard. I fucking love Sagan. He's your really smart, patient uncle who you eventually want to be able to dress like.

"inter-dimensional amity"....god damnit I love you, Sagan.Much like the earth's mantle, that sort of thing is beneath us.

^^oh man I've been meaning to for a bit! i think what i love most about him is the sense of urgency he always had ("...if we do not destroy ourselves") having been going through the Cold War. in Cosmos he's always ultimately hopeful, but never fails to remind the audience how likely it is that we may blot ourselves out before we get the chance to explore the cosmos

edit: Much like the earth's mantle, that sort of thing is beneath us.
