Yeah...I've had that in the back of my mind about lights for a long time. I think the benefit of having the high-up light that I can point in any direction is a bigger benefit than the risk of it being a problem. Knock on wood.i mean that looks like a 10 cat bag, easy

also for carrying your change of clothes to work, I carry a pack if 1) I'm running more than 8-10 miles (hydration) 2) I'm running to somewhere... Running to and from work is actually a very good way to train and loose weight because it get your metabolism going twice in one day.

    Touche, Jfresh, touche.

Tyler, I'll let you know if it happens again, but it was six years ago that I gave my last reading so it might take a while. Do you go to the Blacksmith House at all? Brookline Booksmith has a good series run by the Black Ocean publisher, Janaka Stucky, which you might want to check out. I'm on a mailing list that sends out all the area poetry readings. If you're interested, I can send you info on how to get on that.

Cantab is definitely slam. I went once, not my thing either.Worstcase I'll just zip tie on a seat... but i'd rather not. —Zev (who else)

Readings are weird to listen to and weirder to do!
I've popped in/out of Blacksmith House but the things I heard there were very lyric / grad-school style. I missed most of the Booksmith ones due to scheduling conflicts, but I checked out some of their poets listed and like their stuff.

Last night I slept at my place in Watertown for probably the last time. I stayed here this week and did some repairs on the house (door thresholds, shed repair, fence repair, new fence gate) before my tenant moves in any day now. I am now about to load the last few things in the car, including the last two bikes (fatbike and tandem) on the trunk rack.

I left some garden equipment so I'll come back to get it before I need it in the spring.

My tenant is a friend so it's a really good situation, and I can always stay at my mom's place in Gloucester when I come back to the area. I'll probably come back pretty often for gigs and work and what not so you'll still see me around. But I can no longer say I "live" here. I own the place so I could hypothetically move back, but that's unlikely.

I've lived in this condo for 11 years and lived in the Boston area for 19. And now I live in neither. So many feelings. This is weird, y'all.::lols at Dan's great photoshopping job:: ::slowly stops laughing:: ::googles:: ::kills self:: -tinyhonkshus

TINSHIFA the fact that chainring bolts have up and disappeared from not one, but two of my bikes. Not like all of them, just one or two of them on each bike. It's like that old movie "Gaslight," but instead of a guy flickering the lights to make his wife think she's crazy, it's my bikes slowly deteriorating until one day I'll just be spinning around and the whole thing just goes to pieces right under me.

[ok I know things loosen up and fall off all the time, but you'd think I'd notice things like that sooner... especially considering my cx bike had ALL of the chain drop during Ice Weasels prior to that]

TINSHIFA there is no"Today I Learned" thread.

Today I learned and am also not sure how I feel about: buses weigh 30,000 lbs! That's so many pounds! Also an average city bus apparently costs around $450,000. Also when bendy buses were 5% of London's fleet they were involved in 20% of the fatal accidents. Also they make bendy buses with three (3!) segments."life is hard, cats are soft." - surprisefries

Most likely, yes, considering the Frankenbike's monster nature of all of my bikes.

I know how I feel about buses being involved in fatal accidents ... >:(

On a lighter, inappropriate note, maybe if they were like those triple decker knight buses in Harry Potter with the three segments on top of each other instead of horizontally connected, it wouldn't be a problem... except that's totally not a thing.

I feel like they're just going to have the same issue that they have on Vassar by MIT; peds will just walk in them without a care in the world and then freak out when there's a bike heading right at them.

there should be less of a barrier between the cycle track and the street, and more of a barrier between the cycle track and the sidewalk. I want the option to be in the road, and i also want the peds to be hampered in walking across both the sidewalk and cycle track1) Stop watching the donkey porn.

I think the issue with Vassar at MIT is that there's no curb between the cycletrack and the sidewalk. It's just the same grade.Naaaah, too uncool for the #messlyfe. I just like to hang out in loading docks and pretend to talk on my radio so that people will like me. - Mfratt

o yeah, the deathtrap with turns/parking garage entrances where the parked cars prevent people from remembering to look and physically prevents them from doing so, and where the bike lane hits the turning lane at the lights and people can't follow lines so they drive right through it. Just about every time I just take the lane (usually because I'm turning left or the gutter lane is blocked) I get death threats from idiots. Last Monday I was in the left/straight lane, a driver pulled to my left and rolled down the window to tell me he's turning right, I said "okay, the right turn lane is over here, and it's a no turn on red", he proceeds to go, almost hitting some peds. It's too damn short to have so many problems, it's incredible."life is hard, cats are soft." - surprisefries
