FYI: It sounds like Radio Boston (3pm, WBUR, 90.9) is doing a show today on the "bike lane" backlash (i.e. bid'nesses, residents, etc who are fighting AGAINST bike lanes). Should be interesting. All you white kids look alike when you're still covered in baby fat, so I was getting bored with the non-stop WASP parade.

    Can I listen online somewhere?

    Wait, this?

There was quite a backlash from the cycling community when Dana Liard was killed in Central Square. There are reasons to dislike bike lanes, especially poorly implemented and unenforced ones.Worstcase I'll just zip tie on a seat... but i'd rather not. —Zev (who else)

people are stubborn asshole and need to be taught to think differently before major changes are put in place.
simply painting white lines on the ground and telling the average mass driver to watch out for cyclists and adapt overnight to changes in however they drive is unreasonable. they first need to be reeducated as to the legality of the situation - that bikes are defined as vehicles too and have as many rights as cars - and informed of the consequences of of bike-auto accidents

^^unenforced bike lanes? what bike lanes are enforced?

^if there is minimal enforcement of any traffic law, why do you think there'd be education about bike related laws?

Speaking of bike lanes, anyone have a clue as to what is going on with Main St. in Charlestown? A couple of months ago, there were "test" bikelanes that were made with what looked like spray paint. Then a couple weeks later, real 3-4 inch white paint lanes were put down. I went by there on Monday and the bike lanes have been scraped off the road. Go figure. We are the small axe.

Imagine if there was a rule that you could only drive a car on the road if you were going 10+ miles away, were pregnant/handicapped/disabled, or were transporting young children or large/fragile items............ everyone else has to walk, T, bus, or ride...
