So I'm looking to rebuild one of my front wheels to a dynamo hub with the goal of installing head and tail lights on my city bike. I'm looking for a classic looking headlight rather than the space age Shimano ones. Does anyone have any suggestions on good hub and/or light combinations if I'm going the dynamo route.

Thanks.clockwork ted: this is my favorite thread. sweet BJ alexi!

The old dutch style headlights are pretty cheap, but aren't really bright at all.The kid's gotta learn that the game never lets up.

I'm thinking more of new lights with classic looks. Goal is to be seen, and have something that won't crap out on me. Currently I've been looking at some of the Busch + Muller stuff. Seems promising, but I'd like to try and stay with LED's over bulbs.

I figure Robot and Ol Nop might have some thoughts on this.clockwork ted: this is my favorite thread. sweet BJ alexi!

I actually used to build LED lighting setups while at the dutch bike shop, using traditional shells. I've still got all my schematics, too. Just don't have the tools or parts anymore. The kid's gotta learn that the game never lets up.

    Retro you say?

Busch & Muller Lumotec Retro. Sold by Peter White -- who sells everything dynamo related.

raar .. sorry, reading comprehension fail -- missed the bit where you said that you wanted LED instead of halogen. Lumotec IQ Cyo in silver with decals rubbed off might work in that case.

If you want to borrow, and then purchase (at bro prices) my lightly used B&M light (with stand light and a mounting thingie) I switched to the planet bike and never looked back.
