I guess I don't notice that stuff...i just like the trees, and the fun people, and the hill makes my legs happy, and I like dogs...plus there are so many colorful signs, and the traffic keeps my riding skills sharp, and I have met lots of cool folks, and my rent is cheap...I mean really what isn't to love?

Even when life sucks, its still pretty amazing.

I live in JP. I can identify with a lot of what Shane mentioned. However, Tammy's totally right about the fucking yuppie ambiance that occasionally exists. ....and their double-wide "whoops, I had me some babies with a wealthy milktoast named Derek and I don't have to work a day job probs ever" carter-arounders. (This is a huge generalization, and I'm sure they're not all bad people, but that's the attitude I get oftentimes when I'm around and about on bike or foot.) That hill also totally sucks.... I'm kind of done with Boston in general. After almost 3 years here, it has never felt like home, and I feel more and more sure that it never will. I love my friends here, and the spring/summers. I might try Chicago or Minneapolis next; I've spend a good deal of time in Chi, and hear nothing but amazing things about the other.

    ANYWAY

Hallo Ryan. Let's wreak havoc on JP with bikes and stuff sometime."...except for the SS Urine Fetish..that one can sink to the bottom of the fucking ocean." -Gilbert

I lived across from the police station at Washington and Glen for a number of years a long ways back.

what's wrong with east somerville and winter hill? they repaved washington street through east somerville and put a big bright bike lane on it. it's still terrifying to ride there given the unruly traffic, but nonetheless somerville has no place in your JP argument.

i live at the borderline of East Sville and Winter Hill.. it doesn't take longer than 2 1/2 months to see all that is wrong with and sucks about over here. i'm not going to list everything off unless you want me to, but aside from my apartment, and the huge park and swimming pool in front of my place and Target and the supermarket being closeby, i've got a bunch of problems with it. i only lol'ed @ Sville because i'd said earlier that i shouldn't really knock on JP since every part of town sux (meaning ..including mine.)

you are calling JP residents uptight when you're complaining about the kinds of strollers people have their babies in? and the sizes of the dogs people own?

also, there's so many ways NOT to go up S. Huntington. I avoid both Huntington streets for several reasons and do it very easily.

people who don't like JP don't live here.

I'm curious about these "cheap" JP rents. I imagine there are rare deals, and pockets of cheaperness, but last time I looked JP was still insanely expensive.

On the other hand, JP is pretty pleasant, in terms of parks, etc.

People who hate S.Huntington really should take a ride out Washington from Forest Hills to the West Roxbury Pkwy... from Roslindale Square on it gets fairly hilly.

As for Somerville, from what I saw when I was looking it comes down to getting something in a reasonable neighborhood, and being lucky enough to find something not craptastic (Somerville has some really pathetic housing stock, e.g. poorly renovated in the 60s with wall-to-wall, etc).

i've been near Jackson sq for a while, we're paying $1200/month for a 3 bedroom. The price is awesome and we have huge rooms, but its right next to bromley heath housing projects and the place has this awful wall to wall carpeting that makes it feel like someones been murdered in it. that and a previous tenant who must have been pretty pissed with the landlord burned a clothes iron print into the carpet in each room but mine.

i still like JP and love having the pond and the arboretum so close. south huntington is kind of a beast but I don't have to do it every day so whatever

met stilgar riding on centre st last week, that was cool
