I call it Bub, short for Big Ugly Bike. Realistically, it's a little bike, but Lub just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Muchas gracias to TCS! for letting me use and abuse some of their tools in the stripping and rebuilding process of this CL junker.

Now if only I can get a black seatpost and a less torn-up seat it will be complete!

Did I see this bike locked up on campus at Northeastern?...

I've got an IRO Mark V Pro frame set on its way and a set of Weinmann DP18 wheels. Gonna build it up with the Omniums from my Fuji conversion, drop horns (probably), CK headset (If I can justify the cost over a Cane Creek or an FSA) and Brooks C17 saddle. I know the DP18's aren't the greatest, but they were $110 through Velomine for a 36h set with sealed bearing Fromula hubs, so for something thats gonna bet beat up around the city all day, it works for me. I'd love a set of Ellipses, but it would be a really really sad day when one of those gets wrecked or stolen.

I'll share some pictures once my stuff comes in. *excited*

@rock dathe->voodoo: can you write a book on bike aesthetics? because i feel like it's exceedingly easy to tell what bikes are your bikes. don't you have so much to say?????????

What would you suggest? I'll probably change those to a mustache, I kind of hate those giant oxfords, but the reason I got that bike was to put cruisers on it if I can make it work. Maybe they look bigger from the photo angle, the main problem now is that silly short stem.

It's going to be an ugly bike, I want to do some experiments on it. My Terry is wonderful and I don't want to mess with it, this is a lower quality frame in a similar style with crap parts. It may end up as a work beater or cape bike, but I'm happy to have a snow day project."life is hard, cats are soft." - surprisefries

I've had a great time with these VO bars, too. Those seem too flat and straight for my tastes, but I might look into them if other options don't work.

I like these, almost narrower and shorter oxfords."life is hard, cats are soft." - surprisefries

+1 for vo milan bars. My favorite 25.4 cruiser bars to date. for 31.8 I use the salsa bend 2, which is almost the same sweep except they are wider.

Building a beater for when I move back to the city in August. Trek 620 lugged touring bike, gonna build it up 1 or 2 x9. I have a bunch to figure out with mtb shifters / cantis / chain line / bb sizes, whether I want a front or rear rack, etc which is a headache but a good learning experience. The saddle used to belong to Paul-san and the stem and brake levers were Epics !"Dude's just smashing fructosenormativity, lay off."
