killersim:I remember taking Lucky Star they wouldn't let you put the bikes in until everyone else had their shit on and if it wasn't going to fit, you had to wait for the next bus. Moral of the story: just take Bolt.

This. Lucky Star and Fung Wah were awful. Bolt is relatively cheap and pretty bike friendly.clockwork ted: this is my favorite thread. sweet BJ alexi!

Hm? I never had that problem with Lucky Star. Mainly because I would just jump into the hold with my bike as soon as they opened the doors without really asking. Being a pushy jerkwad can help in some situations!Worstcase I'll just zip tie on a seat... but i'd rather not. —Zev (who else)

I thought the Megabuses where the hold is in the back (the double-deckers) wouldn't let you put bikes in. I put mine in disassembled in a soft-sided bike bag.::lols at Dan's great photoshopping job:: ::slowly stops laughing:: ::googles:: ::kills self:: -tinyhonkshus

My bike actually faired better than I did after I ate a windshield. I wrecked a "bombproof" CXP30 and bent the seatstay. I've got the rest of the bike built up on a De Bernardi frame that I can't wait to put through its paces, but I'm looking at my wrecked Olmo frame right now. I was gonna just call it dead and hang it on the wall, but if theres any chance of putting it on the road again, I'm all for it. The dropouts are still properly spaced, but the effected side is askew so the wheel doesn't sit perfectly straight. In theory, its still rideable, but I feel sketchy about riding with the seatstay so out of whack. I'm also concerned about chain clearance between the cassette and the bent stay.

Do you think its savable? I could probably pull it off myself with some emparted wisdom and the right tools, but I'd certainly pay fair price to someone who knows what they're doing and can do it properly.

That thing is dead. Make it into art, take it to a metal recycling place or just trash it, but don't rebuild or ride it.

That looks fixable without new tubes. I'd offer to realign it but my current workplace doesn't have a stay bender. Call around shops that are old enough to have old tools and someone will have a stay straightener and a mechanic with the know how

ride it as is. looks like an aero-fairing for the cassette.somebody turn the lights off on this place already.

When I was in Maine I drank/hoarded this Maine Root Maple Lemonade, and it is the greatest thing I have ever tasted. I would appreciate yr helps identifying a distributor in Boston. It's likely to be found with the local/organic stuff and is in a Snapple-shaped bottle with a yellow label.i mean that looks like a 10 cat bag, easy

Hello denizens of Boston Fixed. I was hoping to get your opinion on this frameset:

    http://crewbikeco.com/collections/frames-forks/products/crew-bike-co-district-frameset-pro-kit-matte-black

I ordered the Gazzetta from Cinelli, and was disappointed so I'm looking into other frames. Found this one thought it sounded too good to be true, so just wondering if there's something I might've overlooked in my assessment.

    Cheers!

I've seen crew bikes around on reddit // they have adds all over every "fixed" website. I only started hearing about them recently so I'm assuming they're a crappy bandwagon co. A price tag as low as those is usually a red flag (I would say the same goes for Aventon, UNKWN and things of the sort) though I've never personally ridden on.

What was yr issue with the Gazetta? I've heard good things about it for a bombproof city rider.and then the time will come when you add up the numbers

It felt like a solid bike but it didn't look, more importantly feel right with the columbus fork I was hoping to put on my fixed gear setup (edit). Yeah and you're right it does sound like just another brand jumping on the bandwagon. I've seen Unknown bikes appear on several websites as well as Reddit, guess I'll have to do some more research.

(i gave this list minus few in response to gastronomin not too long ago)
    quality production bikes:
    fbm sword
all city big block or thunderdome (all city geometry runs big, a 55 is a 58, go by the TT number)
    traitor cutlass
    cinelli has 4 types
    soma rush
    milwaukee bike co bruiser
    wabi special or lightning
    handsome fredward
    pake
    swobo sanchez
    milwaukee bike co
    kona
    surly
    bianchi pista
kilo tt and the bikesdirect and bikeisland stuff (youll get some toe overlap and they'll be a little heavy)

though i think some of them are eliminating fixed gears from their product lines lately (i know salsa and iro did)

and don't call it a fixie pleasesomebody turn the lights off on this place already.

Thanks for the list. (edited my previous post)

I'll have to expand my search.

Also, I saw a couple pics of a Cinelli Histogram on the boards and had a semi.

IRO doesn't manufacture anymore but they are solid bikes if you can find one in your size. Ive had mine for 6 years and its held its own through two bad crashes, a year downtown, and all the boston salt.'Cause i always say i love you when i mean turn out the lights.

I own a Histogram. It is called "The Fully Operational Death Star." Please address it by name, or it will "Death Star" you.

And you can ONLY call them a "fixie" if the word "SWEET" (must be in caps) is used as an adjectival modifier. All you white kids look alike when you're still covered in baby fat, so I was getting bored with the non-stop WASP parade.

Well your Fully Operational Death Star is pretty SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! jk.

Anyone know if there's someone in Boston that'll powdercoat/paint an aluminum frame? (I know aluminum can be tricky because previously painted frames needed to be sanded down really well and primed)

    Cheers!
