Hey kids (I'll post in the introduce yourself thread soon):

My bike was stolen in Washington Sq Brookline sometime last night. It's an IRO Angus fixed gear, 56 cm, black. Here are the parts on it:
Rear wheel is a Surly hub with Mavic MA3 rims
Front wheel is a Vuelta road wheel with quick-release.
Cranks: Sugino RDs (lettering mostly worn off)
Pedals: no name w/ toe cages
    Chainring: 45t
    Saddle: E3 form
    Stem: Black Cinelli 125 mm
    Bars: Cinelli Campione Del Mundo
    Headset: Richey
Here's a pic of it with its old tires. The tires on it now are black with red lines. Note the bell tied to the seatpost with lavender ribbon:

Any help is appreciated, or if people could keep an eye out for it that would be sweet.

    Happy riding!

Man, that sucks, that's a nice bike. I hope you find it and can prove ownership if need be.

    How was it locked up?

...I gotta admit though, it is a bit hard to find a black IRO with Sugino cranks in this city!A man becometh what he thinketh.

Sorry to hear of your loss man. I'll keep my eyes open for it by BU and the BPL. Do you know the serial# of the frame? This might help some.clockwork ted: this is my favorite thread. sweet BJ alexi!

thats a god damn shame, them are pretty rides. Stealing bikes is karmically impure, and anyone who does it should be slowly ground to death by means of hippo.this wont hurt a bit...

how many iros out there have threaded shit? i feel like that could potentially stand out. i've only seen threadless, generally speaking.
  4.
There are more Mark Vs around than Anguses, I think. But there's an Angus or two floating around. Let's all watch CLs for western mass, etc.

Ian, did our IROs even get to ride together? What a shame.Word nerd

zing! that was a good one. maybe the same person likes to steal sweet baskets tooHUUUUUUUUUUUT!!!!!!!

honestly, if someone needs a basket bad enough that they're going to go through all the effort of stealing it I wouldn't be upset.Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.

what if someone needs a bike bad enough that theyre going to go through all the effort of stealing one? would you be upset then? or how about just a wheel set?HUUUUUUUUUUUT!!!!!!!
  11.
depends on monetary value I guess. I'd be willing to take the hit in wallet for the basket, I know people that don't lock their helmets to their bikes when they leave them for the same reason. would I be willing to take the hit for a whole bike or wheelset? I doubt it, although I did have a bike I never locked because I found it abandoned.Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.

Jesse, thanks for the bandanna. My bike looks totally gangsta now.Word nerd

I left it at a friend's house in Brighton, obviously not locked up because I thought it was safe. But... they threw a huge party that I was not there for and it was gone the next day. needless to say, if anyone has any free spare parts (head set, front wheel, old tires, tubes, fork, crankset) I would be grateful.Less fashion, more thrashin.

kinda crazy stolen bike story the other day:
My friend's bike from mission hill was stolen maybe a year ago. He found the person riding his bike around just the other day and chased the girl down. You guys all know you know your own bike when you see it. This is what I just got from him. He called the cops and the chick tried flipping it on him saying harrasment but basically they came and they obviously can't take the bike back because he didn't register it and whatnot, but this is what he said.
stolen bike spotted, but not reclaimed (bike was never registered). police were unable to return the bike to rightful hands after id number couldn't be provided. PLEASE DON"T WORK ON THIS BIKE. off white powder coating on frame
    lugged frame
stem is powder coated and reads 'custom'
rear flip flop wheel on mavic open rims
    front antique campy hub
black wwf sticker on the seatpost (placed by thief).

It was stolen, or purchased stolen by a chick. Please contact me with any information on it, or even if you're the girl step up... it's always a bummer to get your bike stolen but to see it being riden by someone you should be out riding with is burn.

There's a pretty budget photo of the bike. Similar situation happened right in brigham circle - he found the bike and locked it with HIS lock, and a day or two later the lock was cut before he could get cutters to get his own bike back.
Any help would be appreciated - PM me here if you know this person riding it or email me at terrorneverends@gmail.com
    Thanks alot.

btw- for all y'all's friends and whatnot (because of course we are all too smart to have it happen to us)
write down your bikes serial # somewhere not on your bike. do it right fucking now.
    if it is taken,
    go to a shop
have them call the police/fill out a report
then if you get one of those shitty found-my-bike-with-soemone-else-riding-it things,
you at least can say "well, i reported it to X precint, through shop Y"
cops hate to get involved with stolen bike shit
your best best is to knock em off and run with it
but if you wanna do things legit, that will help signifigantly
travis dude, that sucks about your bike man. I'll keep watch on the intertubes.dongpincher 1000

Kinda random thought, But I was thinking of putting down your name and some other pertinent information that would match your ID on a pice of paper and putting it it in the handlebars...that way if they have the same handle bar set you could have them busted on the spot.

^i remember a CSI where they ran down a dead-end clue based on what's his face (the one that looks like lenny kravitz and has a gambling problem) remembering that bike shops put a bill of sale into seat tubes when they sold the bike.

I didn't think shops actually did that, but fuck yeah to secret storage and the possibility of being able to identify your bike as yours when it's in another persons possession. I don't know why I haven't done it myself but I'm getting on that shit asap

(also remember to bag that shit up, paper is weak against the kinds of corrosive stuff that could be rattling around in your frame)cdrebbel: STOP TYPING 'BREAKS' YOU FUCKTARDS. YOU HAVE NO CREDIBILITY.
