BAUMANN:Hey, my name is Eric, I have been on here for maybe a month now, since I bought my pake off of Mr. Panone. I am a recently graduated, mildly self/un-employed photographer trying to make ends meet and not get hit by cars while I enjoy my newest love: riding my "SWEET FIXIE." I don't know many of you guys but have probably met some of you in passing via Ms. Furey or Mr. Weisberger. So yea, guess that's my intro, here are some photos, see y'all around.

ben:I'm Ben. I moved to Boston from Chicago on Friday. I'm coming off a knee injury and am not riding as much as I'd like, but your one way streets are already killing me.

    Me (on the right).

    I have 5 bikes here:

Trek Madone 5.2. Stock + Arione saddle. Road/racing bike.

Bareknuckle. Phil Hubs, Miche Primato cranks, King headset, Thomson seatpost. Fixed gear bike.

Planet X Kaffenback. Mix of everything from Tiagra to Dura Ace, all used. Touring bike.

Gary Fisher Big Sur. Stock. Mountain bike.

And a mostly stock 2008 Specialized Tricross Single Speed, which I don't have a picture of.

I also have one bike at each of my parents houses:

Ridge Racing. Built up to be as ridiculous as possible. Heavy disc wheel. Ridden once. Joke bike.

Makino. 75s, Dura Ace hubs to Atlanta rims, everything else NJS except the $10 KMC chain. 'Nice' fixed gear bike.

Thanks to Kyle for mentioning that the NACCCS are here this year (didn't know). Got to race last year, and hopefully won't do any worse this year.

Pretty impressed that all these photos still link. And I still own exactly 1 of these bicycles.I have DTF pants. They're crotchless. -surprisefries

    hellokittykatt:
fmradio516:alright well if you know anything about peugeots you know that the older that old ones had a crazy seatpost size of 24.5 i believe and that it was impossible to find the newer style seatposts for those bikes. if you knew that then a bulb would have went off in your head, "oh he must think this peugeot is older that it really is. silly him let me correct him." but instead you went off about how your peugeot has a reynolds 501 sticker on it just like everyone elses in the city.

i wasn't thinking about your bike. i've always had rainbow peugeots. you shouldn't sound so hostile towards me just because you can't find a part for bike. if you needed help to obtain a seatpost, all you have to do is ask politely. i don't know what bikes are in boston but in san francisco, it's not common.

deadbolt:holy crap welcome to Boston already getting people pist
may i be the first to say that maybe using the term "attention whore" wasn't exactly the best way to introduce yourself to a new forum. IMHO.

    oh also, fixie.
OhHeather:^agreed. acting crazy for no reason also doesn't help

    1. there's no reason to ever act crazy and 2. i wasn't acting crazy nor did i type anything crazy. what i wrote is matter of fact. someone being hostile towards me for no reason is much crazier than me telling him that his assumptions are still wrong.
i noticed that several female members clamored in to try to internet bitch slap me- ha right on time! that's the catty bs that's usually happens when a new female member joins and could threaten to take away all the monopolized attention they're use to having. don't worry, i got bigger fishes to fry when i'm in boston than to show up to meet an unfriendly fixie group.

Dan Roch:nick (not cool) calm down... And welcome, peugeot's are awesome. My dad still has his from when he was a kid (not the same one you have its a lot older) in perfect condition that he rode from Hampton up the Kangamangus and back when it was still new.. it was a UO 8 with the touring package... so long story short sweet bike.

thanks dan, peugeots are awesome. i'm thinking of aquiring a spartan as my secondary fixed. i got quite a welcome LMAO

    hellokittykatt:
fmradio516:would you be mad if i told you that your bike doesn't even have a pinch of french threading and it might as well be a schwinn?

i wasn't mad about what you said, i was saying you're wrong.
    hannaelise:
    hellokittykatt:
fmradio516:you just dont get it. OK so there was a time before your rainbow 501 was even a thought in anyones mind that PEUGEOTS CAME WITH A 24.5 SEATPOST. then later on they decided that they want to be like everyone else and make bikes with regular sized seat tubes. understand now? and no one was being hostile till you started reading shit backwards. oh yea... look into chicago or providence or something.

what don't i get? that you started making invalid assumptions? that somehow i got a newer seatpost that fits my bike means that my bike isn't "old"?
and yes, i know peugeots have older models, but it has nothing to do with me and it's still not my fault that you can't find a seatpost that fits your bike. you are continually being hostile towards me and i'm guessing it's meant to drive me away? ok, so what you're saying boston is better than anywhere else? that it's an untouchable city because every biker gets ran over on their bike by notorious "boston drivers"? or maybe boston is better because bikers like being hostile towards other bikers because they don't belong in the same clique?
hahaha this is ridiculous! now i know why there's so many bostonians move to san francisco- we've got better everything and friendlier people!

CALM DOWN! Seriously who the fuck cares what year your peugeot was made. Peugout's are notorious for being annoying to convert because of strange sizing so I don't think a question about a bike part is so outrageous.

Heather and Tammy are not catty people AT ALL so that tells you that you are the one being a huge bitch if they calling you out.
Girls on the board could give a fuck if more girls come onto the board. There have been a lot of new girls this past year and most of them are our close friends now.
So, if you think we are jealous of you and don't want you "intruding" then you are sorely mistaken.

Just ride your bike and play nice.

yes, peugeots are a pain but who's forcing you to convert it? if you decide to do something, you're always going to encounter some hiccups that's just how it is and it's not right to take hostility out on me.
you just proved my point about females being catty. some guy and i disagree and suddenly i'm a "bitch" haha ridiculous logic. all this sounds like a divorce argument. i hope boston people are much cooler then they behave on the internet.

Then I got this from my dad, a 1969 Atala.

Open Bicycle got it back in working order, but while I was riding it home, this happened:

when a chevy tahoe turned left across the bike lane just outside central square.
    the bike was, unsurprisingly, broken.

but the guy's insurance was nice enough to get me this new bike:

    paul jameson:Hey,

I'm Paul, I'm 24 and I used to live in Ohio (I grew up in Columbus, went to school in Wooster) but I wound up in Boston for grad school about 4 months ago (BU, Chemistry). I live in Oak Square where I've spent my time mostly reading, drinking, and doing homework so I decided maybe I should check out what this city has to offer this semester. Anyway, this is me:

    Relaxing

I ride this early 70s Peugeot built up to be the platonic form of a ten speed. It was the bike I used to ride around on the back of as a kid, so it's not technically impressive but I love the hell out of it.

    White Bike

I also have this oddball fixed gear, based on a 1997 Quintana Roo tri frame, surprisingly light and zippy.

    Blue Bike

Since I take any excuse to build a new bike, these days you'll more likely see me on a fixed Viscount I'm building to be a junk winter/polo bike. I haven't played enough polo yet to get very good, and haven't played at all since I lived in Cleveland so we'll see what happens. Anyway, I'll be around.

I'm newly registered and thought I should introduce myself in the aptly named thread.
My name's Tyler, I live in Allston, and teach English as a second language all around the city (and my bike comes with!)
I don't have any photos of my bike but it's a chipped up Maroon Nishiki frame, fixed with a ripped up seat and white wrapped bull horns.
Hopefully the weather will start getting better (not this week..) and can ride around with some new people and get involved more with the bike community

-I love combining all of the above.

I have a few bikes that are constantly undergoing transformation:

Homebuilt Xtracycle (Currently in process of rebuilding)

My other bike is an old MTB I use for weather/hauling/touring:

The bike I use most is this guy, which I sometimes use with panniers I built out of trashbins:

and what I look like on it:

Hardly my idea, but probably the only one bike drumming around Boston nowadays on a daily basis.

If you've been riding around BU lately, there's a good chance you've heard me around. Feel free to shout taunts and obscenities at me, or dance.

Eric, Joe started something in another thread. What you are seeing here is the extension of that (and may become even more "real" at Secret Satan this year). All you white kids look alike when you're still covered in baby fat, so I was getting bored with the non-stop WASP parade.

whoagirl!:Hey Dudes, i'm Joe. I'm moving to Boston pretty soon and i wanted to get hooked into the bike crowd. This is me:

I hope this works, I'm not that good at internet stuff. I just got this bike, it's pretty cool.

I haven't ridden a fixed gear before but I think it's awesome. I love how this bike looks, real colorful, y'know? Like Whoa! I'm hoping to make it even more rad once i get here and start riding more.

    So hey, what's up everyone?!

chr|s sedition:After a recent mid-life crisis featuring bouts of satanism, plant mutilation, necrophillia, Jesus, Oprah, guns, beer, lottery tickets, Hustler magazine, cheap cocaine, and post-modern poetry, I feel like a new person. Anyway, it's time for a re-introduction.

My name is Chris Sedition, 2.0. I've been biking and skateboarding around Boston since the early 1990's. I have been on BFG for quite some time. Despite all that, I have been a relative recluse to the Boston bike world. Things change. Ya'll should be seeing more of me this year or something. On to the pics.

This is me when things started to go bad.
